Amirova Khazangul – was taken hostage during the occupation of Khojali region
In February 1992, the Khojali tragedy took place. We went to the forest and the Armenian soldiers seized us over there. They beat my younger sister, Yegana, and then beat my mother. They beat her on the head. My mother’s name was Raya. Then they took us to Askeran. They tied my father to the tree there and told him to repeat that all the lands of Azerbaijan belong to the Armenians. But my father said that he would never betray his country even if he knew he would die. After it they poured petrol on my father and burnt his feet first. Then they told my father at least to think of his children and repeat that all the lands of Azerbaijan belong to the Armenians. But my father told them again that even if they burnt his children together with him, he would never betray his country. |
